You deliver the growth strategy. Everyone is enthusiastic. And three months later the client is still running exactly as before.
That is not how we work at Gradient. A strategy nobody executes was never a strategy, it was advice. Here the work does not stop at the design. We stay locked onto it until the Growth System runs.
Gradient is the B2B Growth Architecture firm of the Netherlands. We design commercial systems around the way a B2B company attracts customers and sells to them. We call that a Growth Motion. By bringing strategy, content, performance, RevOps and media together as one set of Growth Tactics, with HubSpot as the beating heart, we make our clients grow. Growth is not an accident here, it is a design.
Our Growth System framework holds seven Growth Motions: Founder-led, Sales-led, Marketing-led, Marketing-led Sales, Product-led Growth, Product-led Sales and Partner-led. Which motion fits differs by company, product and market. We decide which one, design the system around it and run the execution until it works. That happens in four phases: Diagnose, Architect, Activate, Compound.
As a Growth Architect you lead that work at the client. You determine where the growth ceiling sits, which motion breaks through it, and what the system around that has to look like. After that you direct the colleagues who execute the Growth Tactics. Your success does not depend on the number of workshops you run or the presentations you give, but on whether your client has a fuller pipeline six months later, with better leads. So we are looking for someone who dares to make the call and stays with it until it works. Not someone who delivers a strategy, but someone who lands it.
What you are going to do
- You work out where growth is stuck and back that with data from the account, the CRM and the market, not with a gut feeling in a workshop
- You decide which Growth Motion fits, or which combination, and you defend that choice to a board that sometimes wants to hear something else
- You design the Growth System around it: priorities, measurable goals, a roadmap, and the experiments that settle the open assumptions
- You place specialists from strategy, content, performance, RevOps and media in the right spot in that system
- You sit at the table with the client's leadership and name what is not working, and why
- You steer on evidence. What disproves the hypothesis changes the plan, not the presentation
You work closely with Gradient's client leads and report to your business unit manager.
The Growth System is your home turf
We expect you to know your way around the following:
- From revenue target to required demand. You work backwards through win rate, stage conversion and sales cycle, so that a target becomes arithmetic rather than an ambition.
- Unit economics. CAC, payback period, LTV:CAC and ACV. Those numbers tell you whether the ceiling sits in marketing, in sales or in the margin.
- ICP defined by analysis. You derive segmentation and account tiering from closed-won data: which accounts closed fastest, at what deal size and margin, and which of them renewed. You also know which segment is the least attractive to go after, and why.
- Growth Motions and their ceiling. You know why a motion does or does not work for a given type of B2B company, and what a move to another motion costs in time, money and effort.
- Which tactics belong to which Growth Motion. You know which tactics drop out on deal size, sales cycle or capacity to serve before you test them. When in doubt you design the smallest version that settles the question.
- Lifecycle definitions and stage conversion. MQL, SQL and opportunity as an agreement between marketing and sales, with a percentage underneath. You see which stage it leaks out of.
- What is measurable and what is not. Enough RevOps and HubSpot architecture to know whether a KPI can be measured before you put it in a plan.
- Sequence and dependency. You build a roadmap where every step depends on the one before it, and you can explain why quarter three runs dry if quarter one does not happen.
- Experiment design. Hypothesis, variable, duration and the outcome that would disprove it. The test exists before the recommendation does.
What you bring
- At least 7 years in B2B growth, strategy or growth marketing, with responsibility for a client or business result
- Growth problems you have translated into a strategy that a team actually executed. And you can explain what still went wrong
- Commercial insight that ties customer behaviour, positioning, marketing, sales and operations together
- T-shaped. You cover several disciplines and go deep in at least one: performance, demand generation, RevOps, content or product-led growth
- You bring a board and a delivery team onto one line, even when the two contradict each other
- You work with hypotheses, test them, and use the outcome to make the next choice
- You work AI-native on the Gradient Operating System and know where AI speeds up judgement and where it only appears to
- Dutch at native level. English at professional level, because part of our client base is international
Also important
- Experience on both sides of the table: in-house and from a firm or consultancy. Anyone who knows both convinces faster
- HubSpot or another CRM at architecture level, not only as a user
- You have advised a client not to do something, and you can tell that story
- Something Fresh-Sour in you. You stay critical in order to make the work better, including when the work is ours
What we offer
- A salary between €4,500 and €7,000 gross per month depending on what you bring, with profit sharing on top
- Questions that set the course of a company, at B2B organisations with real room to win. Most of the competition is still running the same tired playbook
- A senior-led firm. You work with Gradiators who genuinely master the craft, not alongside a layer of juniors working from a template
- Five years running the number one full-service B2B agency in the Emerce100, over 250 Growth Systems built and more than €1.5 billion in pipeline for clients. You are not walking into an experiment
- Room to shape the Growth Architecture practice itself. It exists, but it is not finished, and you get a say in what it becomes
- Hybrid working: an office in Amsterdam with free padel courts, or fully digital
- Profit sharing, a serious learning budget with personal coaching, MacBook Pro, an equipped home office, pension, 25 holidays, and legendary parties, trips and the annual sun or ski trip
This role is probably not for you if
- You would rather deliver a strategy than watch it land. Here you stay with it until it runs
- You have one preferred approach you apply everywhere. Seven motions means choosing again for every client
- You find it uncomfortable to tell a board that their motion no longer fits their stage
- You want to be right. Fresh-Sour means criticism that serves the improvement, not criticism that wins the argument
- You would rather sit on one client. You carry several accounts at once, in different phases
We are looking for someone who sets the growth direction on his or her clients and takes responsibility for it.
